Notice when curiosity becomes obligation
If you open an app with the same feeling you get from an overdue invoice, it may be time for a break. Repeating tired conversations, comparing yourself to strangers or swiping long after you have stopped enjoying it are not moral failures. They are signs that the process has outgrown the attention you can comfortably give it right now.
Make the break real
Turn off notifications, remove the app from your home screen or pause your profile if the service offers that option. Fill the reclaimed time with actual life: friends, sleep, movement, a novel, a project you have neglected. A break works better when it is something you choose rather than something you secretly resent.
Come back on your own terms
You do not need to return after a set number of days. When curiosity begins to outweigh irritation, revisit your intentions and choose a manageable pace. A single app and a handful of thoughtful conversations can be more than enough. Dating should be a part of your life, not a measure of whether it is going well.
Keep in mind
- Pause before resentment hardens.
- Use the break intentionally.
- Return only if curiosity comes back.
